Anderson Elementary Raise money for American Heart Association
The third grade students holding the rope are Gary Beach and Raheem Davis; jumping are Deion Wallace, Brian Jones, and Kalup Dupre.

Over 287 Anderson Elementary students have raised more than $1500 in “Jump Rope for Heart,” an annual fundraiser for the American Heart Association.

Students signed up to participate in the special event several weeks ago through their physical education classes and then began practicing jump rope techniques.

This week, students participated in the “Jump Rope for Heart” event by grade levels,  jumping rope in single jump, double jump, criss-cross, single side swing and jump, right foot, and left foot styles.

The students also competed in various jump rope contests to earn prizes.

This year was Anderson Elementary’s 10th annual event. It was held in memory of long-time NAACP leader James Zay Roberts.

Students will continue to raise money for the American Heart Association through April 10.
