The Bridge City High School Varsity Cheerleaders attended National Cheerleaders Asscociation Cheer Camp in Galveston recently. While at camp the girls received a spirit stick along with five superior ribbons and one excellent ribbon.

Eight varsity members were named NCA All-American Cheerleaders: Blair Bishop, Maddy Bray, Jordan Cricchio, Brooklyn Hogden, Whitney LeBlanc, Lari Navarro, Bria Thibodeaux and Nicole Threatt.

As a team, the girls received the Herkie Team Award – chosen by the NCA staff for the team that shows genuine team unity and spirit throughout the entire camp. Other members of the squad are: Olivia Hubbard, Lindsay Willey, Chlesey Linder and Meagan Shockely. The girls also won the Spirit Award; chosen by all of the schools at camp; for the team they believe showed the most spirit all week. The girls also claimed title to Champion Chant (which gives them the chance to cheer in London); and a bid to NCA’s National Championship in Dallas.

Senior Head Cheerleader Thibodeaux received the Individual Leadership Award; and was given three leadership pins from three other teams noting her leadership skills.

Also, Big Red senior Merissa Underwood received superior ribbons, Most Spirited, Best All-Around, All-American Mascot, and a Leadership Award; and was asked to be on the NCA Staff For Mascots.

The freshmen/JV teams received superior ribbons, brought home a spirit stick, a bid to NCA’s National Championship and the entire squad was nominated for NCA All-American. Also named to NCA All-American were freshmen Brooke Bertles, Ashleigh Fukuda and Kati Thornton; and sophomores Hope Carr, Brooke Derouen, Sydnee Granger, Jordan New and Sierra Roberts.
