ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The “We Remember” Committee consists of Richard Solomon, Charlotte Hamilton, Bridge city Councilman David Rutledge, Christy Teague, Bridge City Mayor Kirk Roccaforte and Sarah Briggs.

The event kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday, and will feature individual tents from businesses and sponsors (no selling is allowed); and Project Graduation and Bridge City Fire and Rescue will be on-hand. Master of ceremonies will be Gary Stelly.

Invocation will be by the Rev. Bobby Hoffpauir, with presentations by Boy Scout Troop 125 of Orangefield, the Bridge City High School Band and the Bridge City Strutters; and recognition of the Bridge City Little League All-Stars, Texas East champs for 2009.

Scheduled speakers include state Rep. Mike Hamilton, U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady, Roccaforte and BCISD Superintendent Jamey Harrison.

Bands include Ronnie Yawn and the White Horse Band; and Milestone. Local donations for the event have been very generous, city officials said. Children’s activities include face-painting and a moonwalk.

One booth called “Catch the Moment” will offer photographs to families that lost treasured photos during or in the aftermath of Ike.
The Red Cross will provide a first-aid station. Hamilton will sing a song she wrote, “We Remember,” backed-up by White Horse.
