Texas voters went to the polls Tuesday to vote on amendments to the Texas Constitution.
Unofficial statewide results, at presstime with 95.21 percent of the votes reported, are as follows. Results were provided by the Texas Secretary of State and Orange County Elections Administration offices.
• Proposition 1, which allows government entities to finance buffer areas adjacent to military zones, passed with 557,135 votes, or 55.20 percent in favor; and 452,032 or 44.79 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 2,037 votes or 43.44 percent in favor; to 2,652 votes or 56.56 percent opposed.
• Proposition 2, which determines how ad valorem taxes are calculated, passed with 692,945 votes, or 68.14 percent in favor; and 324,022 or 31.85 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 3,154 votes or 66.41 percent in favor; to 1,595 votes or 33.59 percent opposed.
• Proposition 3, to provide uniform standards for appraising property, passed with 662,735 votes, or 68.14 percent in favor; and 350,767 or 34.60 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 2,575 votes or 54.34 percent in favor; to 2,164 votes or 45.66 percent opposed.
• Proposition 4, to establish a university fund to assist emerging research universities, passed with 568,982 votes, or 56.54 percent in favor; and 438,918 or 43.45 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 1,904 votes or 41 percent in favor; to 2,740 votes or 59 percent opposed.
• Proposition 5, which would allow for a single appraisal review board for adjoining entities, passed with 605,421 votes, or 61.61 percent in favor; and 377,215 or 38.38 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 2,355 votes or 51.32 percent in favor; to 2,234 votes or 48.69 percent opposed.
• Proposition 6, which would authorize the Veterans’ Land Board to issue bonds, passed with 648,173 votes, or 65.65 percent in favor; and 339,130 or 34.34 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 2,915 votes or 62.46 percent in favor; to 1,752 votes or 37.54 percent opposed.
• Proposition 7, which allows a state guard officer or member to hold another civil office, passed with 737,159 votes, or 73.05 percent in favor; and 272,281 or 26.94 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 3,187 votes or 67.88 percent in favor; to 1,508 votes or 31.12 percent opposed.
• Proposition 8, which authorizes the state to contribute to veterans hospitals, passed with 761,568 votes, or 74.76 percent in favor; and 257,037 or 25.23 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 3,281 votes or 69.23 percent in favor; to 1,458 votes or 30.77 percent opposed.
• Proposition 9, which protects the right of the public to access public beaches, passed with 778,034 or 76.99 percent in favor; and 232,421 or 23 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 3,614 votes or 76.49 percent in favor; to 1,111 votes or 23.51 percent opposed.
• Proposition 10, which provides for Emergency Services District board members’ terms not to exceed four years, passed with 735,752 or 73.02 percent in favor; and 271,720 or 26.97 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 2,992 votes or 64.10 percent in favor; to 1,676 votes or 35.90 percent opposed.
• Proposition 11, which puts limits on power of eminent domain, passed with 824,772 percent in favor; and 81.16 or 18.83 percent opposed.
In Orange County, unofficial tallies showed 3,614 votes or 77.42 percent in favor; to 1,054 votes or 22.58 percent opposed.
