Howard Irvin Stansbury, 87, of Hartburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Officiating will be Pastor David Morgret of the First United Methodist Church in Deweyville.

Graveside services and interment will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis community of Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.

until 9:00 p.m.

Saturday at the funeral home.

Born on May 8, 1920 in Morgan City, LA to James Edward and Lucretia (Bigler) Stansbury, he had previously resided in Orange and New Orleans.

Living in Hartburg since 1960, he worked and retired from the Levingston Shipbuilding Company as a fabrication equipment operator.

He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.

Mr. Stansbury also enjoyed talking about his service in the Louisiana State Militia, his Methodist faith and he enjoyed eating Blue Bell ice cream.

Mr. Stansbury is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mable Stansbury and his numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Blakeney and husband Bill of Hartburg; Linda Davis and husband Hagar of Deweyville and Peggy Hickey and husband Arthur of Mauriceville; sons, James Stansbury and wife Joyce of the McLewis community of Orange and Howard Stansbury and wife Michelle of Deweyville; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family members and friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be Howard Stansbury III, Anthony Blakeney, James Paul Davis, Corey Davis, Joey Edwards and Mike Pevey.
