Dorothy M. Ives, 85, of Bridge City, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Orange Villa Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange.

Officiating will be Mr. Tony Goins, minister with the Church of Christ in Bridge City.

Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday at the funeral home in Orange.

Born in Haynesville, La.

on July 18, 1922, she was the daughter of Claude and Maggie (Westbrook) Sears.

She married Quay Dewitt Ives on June 13, 1943.

Mrs. Ives received her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas College Art and Industry in Kingsville in 1958, and in 1962, did post graduate work at Colorado State University.

From 1958 through 1963, she served as County Extension Agent for San Patricio and Aransas counties.

She has been a resident of Orange County since 1963, living most of those years in Bridge City and was Extension Agent for Orange County from 1963 until her retirement in 1983.

Mrs. Ives was a member of the Church of Christ in Bridge City; the Home Demonstration Agent Association, where she served as district director from 1968-1969; and in 1971, was the recipient of the National Association of Extension Home Economists Distinguished Service Award.She was also a member of Sabine Area Home Economics Association; Orange County Business and Professional Women’s Club; Order of the Eastern Star and Epsilon Sigma Phi Sorority.

Preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Maggie Sears; siblings, Newman Sears, Truman Sears and Oma Lee Knott; Mrs. Ives is survived by her twin children, Pamella Dee Shaver and her husband, Charlie, of Orange; Patrick D. Ives and his wife, Kathleen, of White Lake, Mich.; grandchildren, Brian Ives, Mandy Morrison, Jessica Ives, Jeremy Shaver; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Morrison, Emily Morrison, Kallie Ives, Lacey Ives, Michael Shaver and Matthew Shaver.
