Lamar State-PA spring semester begins Jan. 14

Friday, Jan. 11 is the final day of registration for the 2008 Spring Semester at Lamar State College-Port Arthur.

Classes begin Monday, January 14 Lamar State is offering a full range of academic and technical courses in the spring along with some interesting specialty courses such as Historical Geology, which examines the history of Earth and the changes in its plants and animals during its existence.

The Liberal Arts Department features new art courses, including Two-Dimensional Design and Life Drawing.

The department also is expanding its music courses, especially in the Commercial Music Program, which will offer Music Business, Songwriting, Music Arranging and a variety of Audio Engineering courses this spring.

The college also is offering 15 on-line courses, including the second semester of freshman English and courses in business, economics, home economics, health information technology, philosophy, physics, psychology, mathematics and computer specialty classes.

The spring class schedule is available in the Admission Advising Office and the Admission and Records Office on the third floor of the LSC-PA Student Center, or at the Help Desk in the lobby of the Student Center.

Current students can register for classes through the college’s website (www.lamarpa.edu).

Continuing students not subject to Texas Success Initiative test restrictions and students who passed all parts of the THEA or ASSET tests can register using their personal identification numbers.

All other students must talk with an admissions advisor prior to registering for classes.

A PIN number also is required for on-line registration.

Students also can add or drop classes through the on-line registration system after payment is made to the LSC-PA Business Office.

Students are encouraged to register early as lines could be long in the Admissions Advising Office and the Admission and Records Office during the last days of spring semester registration.
