NEW–Forklift Operator Training Class
Affordable forklift operator training is now available through the Lamar State College-Orange Office of Workforce Development.
This fast-track training course will prepare workers for successful forklift operator inspection and certification at individual work sites. Training consists of two hours of classroom instruction with an OSHA-certified instructor and computer-based lesson delivery. Once students pass classroom instruction tests, two hours of one-on-one, individualized training will be scheduled for each student on an appointment basis.
The OSHA-prepared curriculum teaches forklift operation and safety and includes the safe use of hydraulics, lifting systems and forks; parking; driving around others; steering and more. Calculations to determine load capacity, stability and centering as well as the Inch-Pound Equation are included. The hands-on portion of the course will require students to operate a forklift at a loading dock, travel on ramps and move oversized loads from one location to another. After finishing both sections, students will receive certification of completion.
This is an ongoing course and a new class will be offered each time 10 students have registered. Tuition for the course is $100 and includes all training materials. Payments may be made by cash, check or credit/debit card. For more information or to register, call the Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at 409-882-3321.
