BCISD appreciated this month

The Jan. 14 meeting of the Bridge City school board was a special time for the board and for those in attendance.

Superintendent Dr.

Jamey Harrison announced that January is Texas School Board Appreciation Month.

He then introduced all seven members of the board to the audience.

After the introductions, the Fifth Grade Honor Choir under the direction of Mrs. Charlotte Norton provided the evening’s entertainment with the performance of two patriotic songs.

The choir was given a standing ovation.

It was announced that Mrs. Norton would be retiring on Jan. 25.

Gina Mannino, principal of the high school introduced Caroline Hennigan of the Team Leadership Class.

She introduced three of her students who spoke of the experiences they have had with the leadership program and what they have received from being part of the program.

Mannino announced the members of the high school band and choir, who have qualified for Regional and State bands and choirs.

Strutters’ sponsor Cathy Riley reported on the drill team’s participation in the Texas Dance Instructor’s Convention in Houston and introduced Strutters Captain Hannah Donohoe, who has achieved top ratings in competition on the state level.

In the recent UIL competition for elementary students, Bridge City Intermediate School had 16 students from third to fifth grades who placed in their respective areas.

Tara Fountain, principal of the school, introduced the students and presented them with certificates of accomplishment.

The board room was packed with parents and grandparents of the honored students.

Many people had to stand along the walls.
