Zelma F. Whitfield, 82, of Deweyville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at the Deweyville Cemetery in Deweyville. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Thursday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Born on Jan. 27, 1925 in Ida, Louisiana to Ephrom D. and Pearl (Thomas) Foster, she lived in Deweyville since 1969 and had previously lived in Gilliam, Louisiana. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ida Baptist Church of Ida, Louisiana and she most recently attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville. Mrs. Whitfield enjoyed spending time with her family, especially activities with her grandchildren; she also enjoyed sports, gardening, flowers, bird watching and feeding the squirrels in her yard.

Mrs. Whitfield is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gordon C. Whitfield and numerous brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Weaver and husband David of Buna; sisters, Naomi Rohreaugh and husband Rocky of Gilliam, Louisiana, Edna Ensley of Atlanta, Texas and Zephyr Tate of Clinton, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ricky Wright and wife Charlce of Deweyville, Scott Wright and wife Casie of Buna, Josh Wright of Deweyville and Ashley West and husband Brandon of Buna; great grandchildren, Tucker, Christian and BrookLynn Wright and other family members, Tiger, Lois and Talon Shoemake of Deweyville, Cathy Knouff and family of Maryville, Tennessee and Larry Adcock of New Orleans, Louisiana.
