LSC-PA Small Business Development Center plans February events

The Lamar State College-Port Arthur Small Business Development Center will present two business pre-venture orientation workshops in February.

SBDC director Linda Tait also will begin a four-session seminar on the QuickBooks Pro 2007 software program, starting Thursday, February 21, from 6-9 p.m. in Room 101 of the Madison Monroe Building, 1500 Procter St. on the Lamar State campus.

The first session covers getting started with QuickBooks by setting up lists and accounts for your business.

The other sessions of the seminar will meet March 6, March 20 and April 3.

Admission to the all of the sessions costs $100. Admission to individual session is $30. A QuickBooks manual is included in the price. SBDC business consultant Kasey Taylor will lead the Tuesday, February 12, pre-venture workshop from 9 a.m. to noon at the Nederland EDC Office, 1903 Atlanta Ave.

SBDC business consultant Conrad Cooper will lead the Tuesday, February 26 workshop from 6-9 p.m. in the conference room of the Gates Memorial Library, 317 Stilwell Blvd. on the Lamar-PA campus.

The free pre-venture orientation workshops cover business plans, funding, employees and taxes for first-time business owners. Attendance at one workshop is required prior to a new business owner’s first one-on-one meeting with a SBDC business consultant. The SBDC offers individual consulting for small business owners at no charge.
