LSC-PA Small Business Development Center plans March events

The Lamar State College-Port Arthur Small Business Development Center will present two business pre-venture orientation workshops in March.

SBDC director Linda Tait also will present two sessions of a four-session seminar on the QuickBooks Pro 2007 software program that started February 21.

The final sessions are set for 6-9 p.m. March 6, March 20 and April 3 in Room 101 of the Madison Monroe Building, 1500 Procter St. on the Lamar State campus.

Admission to each session is $30, which includes a QuickBooks manual. SBDC business consultant Kasey Taylor will lead the Tuesday, March 4, pre-venture workshop from 9 a.m. to noon in the conference room of the Gates Memorial Library, 317 Stilwell Blvd. on the Lamar-PA campus. SBDC business consultant Conrad Cooper will lead the Tuesday, February 26 workshop from 6-9 p.m. at the Nederland EDC Office, 1903 Atlanta Ave.

The free pre-venture orientation workshops cover business plans, funding, mployees and taxes for first-time business owners. Attendance at one workshop is required prior to a new business owner's first one-on-one meeting with a SBDC business consultant. The SBDC offers individual consulting for small business owners at no charge. Reservations are required for all events.
