Friday, March 28 the Council Chambers at City Hall looked like a refuge for ducks. The room was decorated with grasses that resembled a duck blind and there were mounted ducks and duck decoys. The duck theme was even carried out on the cake, which depicted a duck floating on a pond. The decorations were in honor of Jerry Jones, the new City Manager, who has been an avid duck hunter.

Jones has been serving the last seven years as Public Works Director for the City and was recently hired to replace retired City Manager Don Fields.

At the present time Jones is serving as acting Public Works Director in addition to his position as City Manager.

Jones has a total of 37 years in city government in most capacities, he says, “I started at the bottom and worked my way up.”

In his career he has earned an Associate Degree and several trade degrees. He also has professional certification in Building Inspection, Zoning Administration and Public Administration, and several others.

Jones says, “the next few months will be very busy with all the ongoing projects, but I am looking forward to all the improvements will be made for the City.”

Among the many well wishers that attended were Jones wife Sharlon, his daughter Christena, grand daughter Ashli and great-grand daughter Kenli.
