BCISD approves personnel changes
Bridge City Independent School District Board has given the superintendent, Dr. Jamie Harrison, the authority to negotiate a contract at Monday’s school board meeting. They are not saying who or what the contract is for, but the authorization was given after a two and a half hour closed executive session.
There were several personnel changes approved. Resignations have been accepted from Paula Auffurth and Rebecca Bruner, Speech Therapists , Diane Chamblee, high school librarian and Mary Beth McClure, intermediate special education due to retirement. Allen De Shazo, high school teacher and coach is going to Little Cypress- Mauriceville. Jo Ellen Green, high school math teacher and Kim McDonald, intermediate special education teacher have resigned.
New members of the educational staff approved for the 2008-2009 school year will be Katrina Bearden, high school biology teacher, Pauline Hall, Sims Elementary Teacher is a rehire, Kristy Honeycutt, BCISD Speech Therapist, Keith Jones, high school assistant principal, Lee Legate, middle school teacher and high school soccer coach, Angela Raithel, diagnostician, Aaron Scales, Hatton PPCD teacher and Josh Smalley will join the staff as high school teacher and the new offensive co-ordinator. Also approved was the re-assignment of Kent Broussard to the Sims Elementary Principal position to take the place of Tammie Skelton who is moving from the area.
The board also approved keeping the current homestead exemption which provides a 10 percent reduction in taxes plus an additional $10,000 exemption for homeowners over the age of 65.
