After considering retirement for several months Bridge City

Police Chief Steve Faircloth officially retired Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.

Faircloth’s retirement brought to an end a 35 year career in

law enforcement, including 28 years with Bridge City. He became the chief after

the retirement of John Tarver in 1997.

“It is just time to relax and take life easy for a while. I

am going to take life easy and in a month or two I may take a cruse,” said

Faircloth. “I inherited a good department from Chief Tarver and I tried to

build on that. I am very proud of the people here and feel like they have

become family.”

At the conclusion of the regular business of the city

council meeting Tuesday August 19 the council will adjourn to executive session

and begin the discussion of Faircloth’s replacement.

A retirement party for Faircloth is planned for August 28 at

the Bridge City Municipal Building.
