Dr. Clyde Donald Smith, 75, of Orange, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, in Harbor Hospital in Orange.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 23, from Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Interment was in San Augustine City Cemetery in San Augustine.

Born in San Augustine County, on Nov. 10, 1932, to Clyde John Smith and Avis McDonald,  he was a proud member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and Winfree Baptist Church.  Dr. Smith was a dedicated coach and educator for many years. He was very active and a life member in many organizations in the Education Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Lila Marie.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Campbell Smith of Orange; daughters, Donna Joyce Manuel and husband Keith of Clear Lake, Mona Kathy Charnetski and husband Stan of Humble; stepchildren, Larry and Marlene Campbell of Orange, and Donnarie Campbell of Orange; and grandchildren, Jeremy Winter, Nicole Oswald, Taylor Charnetski, Sean Manuel, Courtney Manuel, Chad Campbell, Leslie Ruff, Kayla Manuel, Hunter Ruff, Danielle Ruff, Avy Campbell; and sister, Rosa Hutchison of Austin.

Serving as pallbearers were Larry Campbell, Chad Campbell, Richard Ruff, Stan Charnetski, Jeremy Winter and Keith Manuel. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Hospital, 608 Strickland Drive, Orange, 77630, the family said.
