With a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, David Jones, a family and consumer science major from Vidor, earned the Plummer Award as the highest-ranking male graduate in Lamar University’s class of August 2008. Stephen Doblin, provost and vice president for academic affairs, presented the award at summer commencement Aug. 16 in the Montagne Center. Jones, the son of Cherry and Randy Jones of Vidor, is a graduate of the AIM Center High School in Vidor. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the Lamar University Student Dietetic Association. Jones plans to attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles to continue work toward a graduate degree in biology and then return to Texas to complete a professional degree in medicine.
