Evacuation Operations to Begin at 8:30 a.m., Thursday 09/11/08
Based on the current weather track of Hurricane IKE, Emergency Officials in Orange County have made the decision to begin evacuation operations for Special Needs persons beginning at 8:30AM, Thursday, September 11, 2008.
Everyone who has registered with 211 and needing assistance for evacuation purposes should begin moving to assembly points as evacuation operations begin.
ORANGE COUNTY SPECIAL NEEDS ASSEMBLY POINTS:
VIDOR ELEMENTARY – HWY 90
LAMAR STUDENT CENTER – ORANGE
GENERAL POPULATION EVACUATION INFORMATION:
Citizens should arrive at assembly points with a photo ID and try to limit their baggage as much as possible with only essential needs including prescription medication for at least a week. No weapons, including firearms, are allowed. The no firearm rule applies to those persons with Concealed handgun Licenses.
Pets must be restrained in a pet carrier. Unsecured animals will not be allowed on the buses.
Emergency Officials are urging all general population citizens who have transportation to begin evacuation on Thursday, 09/11/08 as well. They should prepare to be out of the area for a minimum of 5 days, depending on the final location of Hurricane Ike’s landfall.
