On Saturday, Dec. 6, members of the Mauriceville Middle School Symphonic Band competed in the Middle School All-Region Band tryouts at Lumberton High School. Over 500 students from the southeast Texas region competed.

Angel Cross – clarinet and Aaron McCoy – bassoon earned seats in Band 1.

Aaron McCoy placed First Chair, which automatically qualifies him to perform at the All-Region Orchestra concert in Baytown the following weekend.

Students making Band 2 are: Trey Bussell – trumpet; Dakota Crespo – saxophone; Josh Green – French horn; Andrew King – trumpet; Jordan Pachuca – clarinet; Alli Vandagriff – flute; Aliza Stanley – clarinet; and Carli Vela – flute. Alternate members from MMS are: Alexis Johnson – clarinet; and Zack Hermsen – saxophone.

These students will represent MMS at the All-Region Clinic and Concert held in January at Nederland High School Performing Arts Center. Jaime Yim and Steve Schoppert are directors of the MMS band program.
