Bridge City’s Girls Powerlifting Team won the 3A Regional Championship and the overall 1A-5A Championship for the second year in a row.

West Brook won the 5A Championship and LCM took 3rd place.

LCM’s Megan Fontenot won the outstanding lifter award in the lightweight division for the squat, bench, deadlift and total.

BC’s Valerie Brown won the outstanding lifter award for the heavyweight division for the squat, deadlift and total.

BC more than doubled the 2nd place finish in 3A. The team has six girls, including two defending state champions heading to Corpus Christi for the state meet. The BC girls finished 2nd last year, and will battle against Gatesville and their 10 qualifiers from Region II for the state title this year.

Qualifiers for BC are 105 lb. Ricci Shoemaker and her 280 lb. deadlift, defending state champs Alexa Richmond and Brittany Myers, freshmen, Rosemary Truong, senior, Amy Caillouet, and jr,. Valerie Brown.

Also competing at the regional meet were freshmen, Nicole Threatt, Whitney Leblanc, Gabby Brown and jr,. Taylor Daville.
Bridge City girls will compete at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi on March 20th.

Cardinal boys will look to defend their back to back regional championships Saturday in Cleveland.

If they win, they will be the first team in the region to win the championship three times. They are bringing sophomores, Thomas Luce, Shane Stankus, Jerry Nguyen, Adam Prosperie, Trent Myers, and the defending state champ, sr., Tim Sharp.
