Investigation continues after an Orange man and his wife were found shot to death Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers were called about 12:30 p.m. to a house in the 700 block of North Street, according to Orange Police Capt. Sparky Robinson. The couple was identified as homeowners Maxie Mier, 71; and Joann Mier, 64, police said.

It has been reported that the couple's daughter received a call from her father, stating he had just killed her mother and was about to kill himself. When the daughter arrived at the home, she found both parents dead and called 911.

Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Joe Parkhurst was called to the scene and ordered an autopsy, reports showed. The bodies were taken to the Jefferson County morgue.

Orange police, working with the Orange County Homicide Investigation Team, said they found no forced entry or property missing.
