The Bridge City Cardinals made it five-straight in Dist. 21-3A last night defeating Hamshire-Fannett 10-7.

The Cardinals now host Hardin-Jefferson, Thursday, in round two of the district season. Bridge City defeated H-J 4-3 earlier.

The tenacious Cardinals fought back from a 5-4 Hamshire-Fannett fifth inning lead that Big Red cracked wide open in the sixth. Tied 5-5, Grant Encalade and Joe Robertson each hit RBI singles to pull ahead. Kellogg nailed a three-run homer that closed out the show 10-5.

The Cardinals watch a 4-0 third inning lead fall apart when Hamshire-Fannett scored four runs in three hits.  In the fifth Bridge City fell behind 5-4 before taking back over Cardinal Field.

Matt Hicks took the mound in the final inning shutdown three-straight for the Cardinal victory.
