CCS serving the community
As part of their training for Student Leadership Institute, students and faculty of Community Christian School, alongside sponsors from the community, selected families in need and repaired homes damaged by Hurricane Ike.
During the week-long SLi minimester, student teams reached out to the Small family of Bridge City where they hung sheetrock, painted, and sanded; painting for the Anders family of Bridge City; demolition at the home of Sylvia Beam in Bridge City; texture walls and paint for the Chargois family in Orange; at Mrs. Elnora Franks’ home in Orange, they painted and cleaned hurricane debris, at the Klein home of Bridge City, the teams cleared out hurricane debris; and the senior class chose one home to completely restore from start to finish, the Richardsons of Bridge City.
According to Felicia Mires of Community Christian, “It is a joy and a privilege to help those in the community who have suffered great loss.”
Community Christian School wants to thank all those who donated of their time and supplies. Thanks to Judy Klein, the SLi director who arranged everything.
