A 9-year-old boy drowned in Rose City at Boomtown Water Park on Father’s Day.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible drowning around 3:45 p.m., Sunday to a popular lake in Rose City.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that Andre Johnson had been swimming with family members in the lake and apparently got away from the group. When family members realized Johnson was missing they started searching, along with other swimmers and lifeguards from the facility.
After searching on land and in the water for about 20 minutes, the missing child was located in about 7-8 feet of water, unresponsive. CPR was performed, but they were not able to revive the child. Judge Janice Menard responded and pronounced Johnson deceased at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
Johnson had traveled from Houston with his family to the Boomtown Water Park to spend Fathers Day with family and friends.
