Sheriff Keith Merritt and wife, Marlene, members of the Orange Lions Club, were honored by the club with a Texas Lions Fellow Award from the Lions Foundation, Monday night at the club’s dinner meeting.

The Merritts were cited for humanitarian service, strong commitment and many hours helping the people in their community during Hurricane Ike.

The Texas Lions Foundations is an organization committed to filling humanitarian needs throughout Texas.

The foundation concentrates on humanitarian services and disaster relief with grants given in times of natural disaster, such as floods, tornadoes and other catastrophic events.
