Employee found dead at Lanxess
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call Wednesday, at approximately 10 a.m., of a death investigation at the Lanxess Plant on Farm Road 1006 in Orange. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and conducted the investigation.
The deceased was identified as Scott Savoit, a 40 year old Vinton, LA resident and employee of Lanxess.
Savoit was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Janice Menard.
Menard ordered an inquest. Savoit was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue.
Dr. Tommy Brown, forensic pathologist, performed the autopsy. Preliminary evidence and autopsy results indicate Savoit committed suicide. Once toxicology test results are received, a final cause of death will be determined.
The investigation is ongoing by the CID.
