Ella Mae Jean (Chesson) Flanigan, 74, of Orange, passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at her home. Services to remember her life were held Monday morning in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating was Father Tom Phelan, pastor of St. Francis Catholic Church in Orange. Rite of Committal were held in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City. A christian wake/ rosary service was conducted by Deacon Harvey DuBois Sunday. 

Born on Jan. 12, 1935 in Vinton, La. to parents, Claude Chesson and Alma (Babineaux) Chesson, she grew up in the Orangefield community. She traveled extensively with her husband, Eddie during his career with the U. S. Army and had lived back in Orange since 1969. Ella Mae enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved in her own special way. She also enjoyed the gardening of flowers, going to church, camping and listening to cajun music. 

Ella Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 55 years, Edward L. Flanigan and her brothers, Claude Lee Chesson and Tommy Ray Chesson. 

Those who will most cherish her memory are her daughters, Jean Dean and husband Duane of Orange and Linda Galbreath of Orange; son, Edward C. Flanigan and wife, Jo Ann of Orange; sisters, Joyce Granger and husband Buddy of Sweet Lake, La. and Alma Faye Chesson of Lake Charles, La.; brothers, Paul Chesson and wife Earline of Merryville, La. and Cleveland Chesson and wife, Val of Renton, Wash.; grandchildren, James Galbreath, Heather Bell and husband Josh, Justin Galbreath and Brittini Flanigan.
