Jose Flores Sr., 80 of Orange, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at his home with his wife by is side. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Nov. 27, in Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. The Rev. Thomas Phelan of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis Community. Visitation is Friday beginning at 10 a.m.

Jose was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Kenedy, Texas to Santos Flores and Virginia (Reyna) Flores. He retired from American Bridge in Orange, where he was a member of Local Boilermakers 587. After his retirement he returned to work with the state of Texas as a park ranger for Martin Dies State Park in Jasper. He was a member of the local senior citizens group. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going with his wife on casino trips, and spending time with his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Flores; sister, Lupe F. Flores; and son-in-law, Winston Carlock.

Jose is survived by his wife, Cirilda Flores, whom he spent 59 happily married years with.; two brothers, Lalo Flores, of Kenedy, Texas and Henry Flores, of San Antonio; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Rhenee Flores, of Dry Prong, La.; daughter, Esmeralda Carlock, of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Abbie Flores of Orangefield. Others left behind to celebrate their memories are 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Flores, Wesley Flores, Freddie Doucet, Jose DeLa Fuentas, Jesse Flores Jr., Leonard Tamez and Tony Azzerello.
