Band Booster supper
The Bridge City Band Boosters will host a gumbo supper Dec. 8 in the high school cafeteria immediately prior to the annual Christmas concert presented by the Bridge City bands. Tickets are $7, available trough band students.
There will also be silent auction items available.
Barbecue fundraiser Saturday
The Cardinal Athletic Booster Club will hold a barbecue fundraiser Saturday on the corner of Texas Avenue and West Roundbunch Road (Shell Station parking lot) from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. or until sold out.
The menu will consist of chicken, link, beans, potato salad, onions, pickles and bread for $7 with delivery available for five or more orders.

Christmas dance food drive
The Orange Boat Club’s annual Christmas dance will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 at the club off of Dupont Drive.
Admission will be three can goods or non-perishable food items per member and invited guests. Cash donations will be accepted in lieu of food donations. Members not attending can bring can goods earlier.
Food collected will be donated to the Salvation Army for Christmas food baskets.

‘Pizza with Santa’
St. Mark Lutheran Church invites all area children to eat pizza with Santa in a free event at 6 p.m. Dec. 23. St. Nick will stop around 6:30 to visit with children or take last minute wishes. Each child can take a picture with Santa and receive a gift. Call Pat at 722-6655 or Elinda, 735-8727, for questions.
St. Mark chili lunch
St. Mark Lutheran Church will “Light your fire,” sort of, on Dec. 16 with a special chili lunch from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; served with rice, Fritos, cheese, onions and a dessert for $6 per plate.
Dinners are available for pick up, delivery or dine-in at the fellowship hall.

LSC-PA business workshop
The Lamar State College-Port Arthur Small Business Development Center will present one business start-up workshop during December.
SBDC consultant Conrad Cooper will lead the Tuesday, Dec. 8, workshop from 6-9 p.m. at the LSC-PA Small Business Development Center, 1401 Proctor Street.
The free business start-up workshop covers business plans, funding, employees and taxes for first-time business owners. Attendance at one workshop is required prior to a new business owner’s first one-on-one meeting with a SBDC business consultant.
The SBDC offers individual consulting for small business owners at no charge. The center helps prospective business owners by providing financial analysis, loan preparation assistance and help to set up a business plan

WO Chiefs dance
The Christmas dance of 1957-77 West Orange Chiefs will begin with a social hour at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at American Legion Post 49 on Green Avenue in Orange.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with music by Ken Marvel and Swamp Rock from 8 p.m.-midnight. Admission is $8, BYOB and casual attire with cash bar/set-ups available.

Dec. 31 is the deadline to pay dues for the 2010 fiscal year for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2775 and Ladies Auxiliary. Citizen of the Year nominations sought
The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2009 ‘Citizen of the Year’ award. Candidates may be, but not need be, a member of the chamber. Nominations from the general public are deserved and welcomed. All will be considered.
The winner will be announced prior to the BCCC Annual Banquet in January.
Of consideration is the bases of their activities during the past year as well as past achievements. Particularly, the impact his/her contributions have made to the community. Criteria includes their work with the chamber and community and length of involvement.
