Orange fire claims two children
An early morning fire in Orange claimed the lives of two young children.
Three fire engines and a supervisor of the City of Orange Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1241 Palm Drive around 12:36 a.m. that was reported to have two children trapped inside. According to Orange Deputy Fire Chief Jerald Ziller, the first crew to arrive reported heavy fire showing.
Initial actions were concentrated on locating the children. They were removed from the burning structure and transported by ambulance to the hospital. Tytiunna Amberson, age 3 and Harmony Amberson, age 4, succumbed to their injuries.
Ziller said one firefighter was injured during the rescue efforts.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
