Project Safe Graduation senior bonfire
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Senior Bonfire, hosted by Project Safe Graduation, will be from 8-11 p.m. Saturday at Manshack and Sons Sandpit at the end of Teal Road. Seniors can buy their tickets at the event for $10. For admission and a T-shirt, cost is $20. For $25, seniors can also bring a guest (must be in at least ninth grade and not another senior).

Retired teachers’ meeting
Area travel agent Patsy Peck will speak when Orange County Retired Teachers meet on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 37th St. The organization’s hostess group for January will provide snacks.

“Get Wild with the Bears” part two
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Spring Pep Rally will be held at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 25 at the football field. This year they will recognize LCM’s spring sports.
The public is invited and asked to to show their spirit for the green and gold.
The concession stand will be open.
The Booster Club will also start selling briskets soon.

Red Hot Flashers to celebrate Mardi Gras
The Red Hot Flashers of Orange, will meet at 11:30 a.m., Jan. 28 at Madame Rebecca’s home for a Mardi Gras party. Lady Cha Cha, Marcie Baca, is the birthday princess of the month. All ladies are asked to bring a salad and a door prize. Laissez Les Bon Temp Rouler!

Plant Propagation Class to be held
Orange County Master Gardeners will host a Plant Propagation Class on Jan. 9. The class will be held at the Orange County Extension Agents office in Mauriceville. Call the Exension Office at 882-7010 to register for the class. The fee for the program is $15 and can be paid on the day of the class.
Multiple types of plant propagation will be taught such as stem cuttings, dividing roots, leaf cuttings, as well as rooting enhancement conditions.
Participants will leave the class with plants they have propagated in the class.

Faith UMC open house
Experience the new Faith United Methodist Church, now open at 8608 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Orange. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday celebration
The Diocese of Beaumont and the Office of African American Ministry will sponsor the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Commemoration at the noon celebration of the Eucharist at St. Anthony Cathedral on Sunday, Jan. 10.
A reception will be held in the Cathedral Center after mass.
The reception speaker will be Mr. Ralph McCloud, director of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

Marriage preparation seminars scheduled
Pamphlets for “To Marry For Life” seminars can be picked up a St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield. The first seminar is on Jan. 23 at the Holy Family Retreat Center in Beaumont. This is a Catholic preparation for marriage and many topics are discussed such as desires, goals, children, etc.
The pamphlet contains a form for registering and other information..
