Johnny Henderson Buckley, 31, of Orange, is accused of assaulting his wife in Pinehurst Monday night. 

According to Pinehurst Police Chief Fred R. Hanauer III, Officers Kevin Blakeney and Dana Robnett responded to the Pinehurst Police Station around 9:42 in reference to an aggravated assault.
They encountered a partially nude white female, whose hands were handcuffed behind her back. She stated that her husband had assaulted her at their home on Martin Street in Pinehurst.

According to the victim, he struck her about the face and head with his fists. He then retrieved an AR-15 assault rifle and assaulted her further by striking her in the head with the weapon and placing the barrel in her mouth. 

Buckley, left the residence, giving the victim opportunity to seek help from neighbors.  

The man was located near the residence a short time later and placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault, a 2nd degree felony. Hanauer stated, “If convicted, Buckley faces two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.”
