Agnes Pruitt Crew
Agnes Pruitt Crew, 85, was born April 20, 1924, in Troup, Texas and died Jan. 21, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday in Dorman Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will
be in Autumn Oaks Cemetery. Cowboy Church of Orange County Pastor Dale
Lee will officiate.
Agnes graduated from Troup High School and shortly afterwards, moved with her family to Orange where she worked as an alterations lady, in the business office at American bridge and after attending Chenier Business College, worked as an assistant city secretary of the city of West Orange until her retirement. She married Walter A. “Rip” Crew on Aug. 6, 1943. Agnes was a member of the Orange County Chapter of Senior Citizens and the Troup Group, and was a former member of the Orange County Home Demonstration Club. Agnes enjoyed sewing and was an expert seamstress. She also enjoyed doing all types of handwork that is proudly displayed in her home.
Agnes is preceded in death by her husband; son, Walter Earl Crew; brother Earl Pruitt; sister-in-law Freda Dunn; and brothers-in-law Robert Baker and Jimmy Dean.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pam Scales Crew of Orange; sister Lorene Baker of Mineola; sisters-in-laws Wynona Peveto of Groves, Bonnie Dean of Mauriceville; brother-in-law Bill Dunn of Mauriceville; nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and “granddogs” Blackie, Smiley and Rusty.
Pallbearers will be Bill Dunn, Edward “Boogie” LaFosse, Nick Broussard, Alex Caswell, Gerald Broom, Robert Sepulvado, Raymond Smith, Keith Hudnall and Eric Hudnall. Honorary pallbearer is Robert Earl Baker Sr.
