Verna Odessa Clark, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, in Orange. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Norris Landry of Hessmer Baptist Church in Hessmer, La.  Visitation will be from 5–9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at Dorman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Bland Cemetery under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.

Verna was born on May 12, 1924, in Wells, Texas, the oldest child of Albert Athens (Jack) Holsomback and Linnie Lee Flournoy Holsomback. She was a longtime resident of Mauriceville, until her move to Orange three years ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Millard Clark; her sister, Willie Moleen Marse; and her great-grandson, C. J. Stephens II.

Verna leaves to cherish her memories her son, James Paul Lakey and wife, Dianne of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter, Diana Dean Lakey Cameron and husband, Walter (Butch) of Orange; daughter, Delda Jean Lakey Bergeron and husband, Howard of Mauriceville; and brother, Roger Phillip Holsomback of Mauriceville.  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Todd Lakey of Tomball, Tyke Cameron of Humble, Corry Stephens of Aurora, Colo., Kendall Lakey and wife, Holly of Prairieville, La., Trent Cameron and wife, Rhonda of Silsbee, Jeremy Stephens of Yuma, Colo., Meagan Cameron Tait  and husband, George of Orange, Ryan Cameron of Sulphur, La., John Bergeron and wife, Tina of Orange, Tina Smith of Flint, Mich., Wendy McKnight and husband, David of Aurora, Rodney Bergeron of Aurora, 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Paul Lakey, Todd Lakey, Kendall Lakey, Tyke Cameron, Ryan Cameron and Roger Holsomback II.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to her devoted physicians, Dr. Michael Keller and Dr. Reji John; to Providence Home Health Care; and to Southeast Texas Hospice for their care, compassion and kindness.
