BC Volleyball “buddies up” at the BC Challenge Game
The Bridge City Lady Cards volleyball team assisted as “buddies” for the BC Little League Challenge game Saturday. Lady Cards formed a tunnel for the Challenge players to run through at the start of the game, then each team member assisted their buddy for the day according to each players personal challenge.
A wheelchair bound player would need assistance to “run the bases” being pushed. Some just need guidance of which way to go. Taylor Brownlie and Amanda Ashby assisted their “buddy,” Sabrina, to 1st base. Monique Mercer’s “buddy” Ryan was so excited he literally drug Mercer around the bases. Some players need help batting, while others just need help to get in the right position to catch a ball.
“My girls did an awesome job,” said volleyball coach ‘Becca Peveto. “I was so proud of them!”
