The Bulldogs swept the Region III series in two games that began Thursday when Jasper cranked out a 5 run second inning to down Orangefield 5-4. Friday night Jasper punched the ticket for a trip to the state tournament with an 8-3 win over Orangefield.

Orangefield ends the season 29-7-0 overall after claiming the Dist. 21-3A title undefeated and knocking-off the state’s No. 1 ranked Robinson in the semifinals last week.

It was a spectacular season for Bobcat head baseball coach Jeff Bennett and crew. The hard hitting Orangefield racked up 329 points in the season with 27 homeruns and 267 RBI. Quinten Evans lead the team in homers with 10. Chase Angelle led the team with 48 RBI. Jace Statum collected 54 hits and scored 50 runs. He had 27 stollen bases and batted at .486. Corey Huckabay had 48 hits and 33 RBI.

Angelle went the distance on the hill for Orangefield in Game Two against Jasper. The Bobcat senior left hander gave up 8 hits and walked two with two strike outs. Orangefield had six errors.

Jacob Felts was 2-for-2 at the plate and walked twice. Jonathan DeRamus had two singles. Angelle, Huckabay and Derrick Evans each singled.
