Joseph A. Droddy, 82, of Hartburg, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Services to celebrate his going home will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 14 at the Hartburg Baptist Church in Hartburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry Delcambre, pastor of the church and the Rev. Fred Rainey, pastor of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Silsbee. Rite of Committal will follow in King Cemetery in Hartburg. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Tuesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

Born on Nov. 13, 1927 in Call to parents, David Adney Droddy and Mary (Herrin) Droddy, he was a lifelong resident of the Hartburg area, a member of Hartburg Baptist Church. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the I.U.O.E. Local 450 in the construction industry and most recently from Bomac Construction in Beaumont. He retired in 1986.

Joe was a positive, happy and loving kind of man who never met a stranger, always had a smile, he never complained and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Joe also enjoyed fishing and listening to country gospel music.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Joseph Droddy; daughter, Carolyn Sue Droddy; five brothers; and three sisters.

Those who will most cherish his memory are his loving wife, Verla Mae Storms Droddy of Hartburg; sons, Donald Droddy and wife, Connie of Searcy, Ark. and Ronald Droddy and wife, Jeanette of Hartburg; sister, Bessie Linscomb of Vidor; three grandsons, seven granddaughters and nineteen great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, many friends and his church family in Hartburg.

Pallbearers will be gentlemen from the Hartburg Baptist Church.
