B. K. “Kenny” Franklin
B. K. “Kenny” Franklin, 63, passed away July 5, 2010 in Houston. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., on Saturday, July 17 in the chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Bell, pastor of Calvary Church in Port Acres. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 pm prior to the service. His cremated remains will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Born in Orange on Oct. 18, 1946 to parents, Vernon and Alma Franklin, Kenny was a 1965 graduate of Bridge City High School. Several years later, he moved to Houston, where he lived the majority of his adult life.
Preceded in death by his parents, Kenny is survived by his wife, Sandra Bennett Franklin of Houston; brothers, Wayne Franklin and his wife, Norma, of Orange and Gary Franklin and wife, Jennifer, of Bridge City; sisters, Loretta Strong and her husband, Sammy, Laverne Eaves and husband, Mike, and Rhonda Ehlert and husband, Jim, all of Orange, and Donna Vaught and husband, Rick, of Conroe; brothers-in-law, Jody Bennett of Port Arthur and Nick Bennett and his wife, Billie, of Denton; many nieces and nephews; and Kenny’s constant companion of 14 years, “Sassy,” his Jack Russell Terrier.
