Robert E. Baker Sr. 70, of Zavalla passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Dorman Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.

He was native of Troop, Texas; born on Feb. 23, 1940 to parents Robert Lee Baker and Lorene Pruitt Baker. He had lived in the Gist Community until he moved to Zavalla in 2002. He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after 43 years of employment as a welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and working with his hands. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Baker; uncle, Rip Crew; aunt, Agnes Crew; cousin, Walter Crew.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, LeAnn Campbell Baker of Zavalla; mother, Lorene Baker of Minneola, Texas; daughter, Donna Glende of Orange; son, Robert E. Baker Jr. and wife Lorie of Wiergate, Texas; sisters, Connie Broom and husband Gerald of Lindale, Texas, Bobbie Maywall and husband Phillip of Tullahoma, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jeff Glende and wife Alayce, Morgan Becker and husband Grant, Lorette Baker, Josie Baker; great-granddaughter, Mattison Glende; and numerous nieces and nephews.
