Spicy Meat Pie

I have been digging around looking for things that would be easy and simple. Something that won’t take too long to prepare and perhaps easy as pie. So here is one that sounds like just the thing to make.

• 2 lbs ground beef

• 3/4 cup chopped onion

• 2 cloves minced garlic

• 1 1/2 cup bouillon

• 1 teaspoon ground sage

• 1/2 teaspoon ground mace

• 1/2 teaspoon pepper

• 3/4 cup chopped celery

• 3 Tablespoons corn starch

• 1/4 water

• 1 recipe mayonnaise pastry

Saute meat, onion and garlic in large skillet. Stir in next six items. Mix cornstarch and water and stir in gradually. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Prepare pastry.

Mayonnaise pastry

• 2 cups sifted flour

• 1 teaspoon salt

• 1/2 cup Hellmann’s real mayonnaise

• 3 tablespoons cold water

Mix flour and salt. Blend real mayonnaise with fork. Sprinkle on water, mix well. Press firmly into ball. Divide almost in half. Flatten larger portion; roll our on lightly floured surface into 12 inch square. Press into a 8x8x2 inch baking pan. Fill with meat mixture. Roll out remaining pastry. Place over meat mixture; seal edges. Cut slits and brush with egg yolk and water, if desired. Bake in 425 degree oven for 30 minutes. Serves six and is Gooder’n Syrup. Von
