Howard Bourgeois, 87, a 15-year resident of Orangefield, and formally of Crowley, La., died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, in Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, in St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield with the Rev. George Kidangen officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Fred Iky Hubert, a friend and fellow parishioner.

Born in Morganza, La., Dec. 22. 1922, Howard was the son of Joseph C. Bourgeois and Mary Elna Villeret. He was a Naval veteran and remained in the Naval Reserves. Howard was a longtime postman of the U.S. Postal Services in Crowley. He was also a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield.

He was preceded in death by Gladys Bourgeois, Richard Quebodeaux; and several brothers.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rose Cuccio Bourgeois of Orangefield; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Dicky Legate of Orangefield and Belinda and Keith Koon of Crowley; and sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Teddy Quebodeaux of Bridge City and Anthony and Kathy Quebodeaux of Orangefield.

He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Kayla Wales Link and husband, Lance, Eric Wales and wife, Abby, Teresa Gray and husband, Russell, Lee Legate and wife, Chelsea, Beth Ashby and husband, Alan, Joseph Quebodeaux, Anthony Quebodeaux and wife, Jacquelyne, Joseph Quebodeaux, Julie Quebodeaux, Andrea Quebodeaux, Richard Quebodeaux Jr. and Lisa Stoma and husband, Ricky; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Rita of Michigan.
