Livestock show and auction benefits Orange Couty youth
The Orange County Livestock Show Association will host a livestock show and auction on Saturday, Oct. 30. The auction will benefit the Future Farmers of America and 4H Orange County youth.
The event will take place at the Mauriceville Fairgrounds on Cohenour Road and Hwy 62 N. at 7 p.m.
“These students are involved in either FFA within their schools or a member of a 4H Chapter in Orange County,” said Sabrina Gray publicity chair of the event. “They will be showing their animals in hopes of placing their projects in the sale auction.”
For the past 18 years this volunteer association has hosted the event. This will be the first time it is held in the fall of the year.
“We have planned activities and invited other groups to join us this Halloween weekend to make this show a great family outing filled with wholesome fun and games.,” Gray said.
The organization is asking area business and individuals to be buyers for these animals at the live auction. Funds support agriculture and leaders for tomorrow. Buyers will be treated to a world class Bar B Que dinner hosted by the Go Texas Bar B Que teams and the OCLSA.
“The purpose of the Orange County Live Stock Show Association shall be to provide and encourage leadership in the youth of Orange County through FFA and 4H Clubs as well as other organizations,” Gray said.
“The goal of the OCLSA is to build an ole fashion County Fair in conjunction with the livestock show. Simple contests such as baking, canning, Best Vegetable from Garden, flower arranging and others are what we would like to bring to this fall festival. Even a sack race, pie eating contest would round out this event with a lot of fun. Come out and help us grow this Fall Festival and Livestock Show. We invite other clubs or groups to come out and see what we are about and may be you would like to participate next year.”
