The District 21-3A cross country meet was a success for the Bridge City boys and girl’s teams Wednesday morning at Clairborne Park..

First place wins by seniors Kirby Shepherd and Mary Nguyen put the Cardinals on top for the 11th year in a row. The Lady Cardinals won the district title for the 11th straight year while the Cardinal boys won for the 10th time.

Both teams easily advanced to the Class 3A Region III Cross Country Championships to be held in Humble at Atascocita High School. Saturday November 6.

Shepherd led the Cardinal boys, and took first over the three-mile course in 18 minutes, 5.77 seconds.

Shepherd’s teammates, Luke Hebert was second with 18:11.23, in third place was Armando Chavez with a time of 18:19.93), Aaron Lejeune placed fourth with 18:49.74, Eric Chesson, fifth with his time of 18:53.46, in sixth place was Brock Jones wiho ran a 19:03.69 and Sawyer Hogan seventh with his run of 19:18.04.

The Cardinal boys took the district title with their maximum score of 15.

Nguyen took title in her senior year, making the two-mile run in 12:49.66.

Bree Fontenot placed second with a time of 12:57.91, Meagan Shockley was third with her run of 13:00.91, Jessica Franklin took a sixth place ribbon with her time of 13:14.06, Alex Holland ran into 12th place with a 14:30.82 run, Arron Valencia 15th with a 14:40.64 and Adriane Cude was 20th, 15:35.19.

The Lady Cardinals had a team total of 24 points. Orangefield scored with 59 points.

Kayla Williams of Orangefield, finished in fourth with a run of 13:01.90. Other Lady Bobcats included Kasidy Hayes in 11th, 14:25.51, Hanna Walles 13th with her run of 14:34.85, Haley Hooker took 14th running a time of 14:37.17, Vivian Luong 17th by running a 15:26.75, Emily Blanke 25th ran a time of 16:15.06 and Ashlee Broussard 28thwith her time of 17:05.51.

Leading the Orangefield boys, and placing 10th overall was David Rainey, with teammate Blaise Hawkins placing 18th.

Haymon Papillion placed 12th overall for West Orange-Stark followed by teammates Macco Mouton 28th, Jerrious Tims 32nd and Gereman Chavez 34th.
