Louis S. “Buddy” Semar, Jr., 71, of Orange, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Harvey DuBois with St. Francis Catholic Church in Orange. Rite of Christian burial will follow in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with a Christian Wake/ Rosary to be held a 6 p.m.

Buddy was born on Feb. 12, 1939 in Orange, Texas to Louis S. Semar, Sr. and Lillian Christine (Sane) Semar, he was a lifelong resident of Orange, he was of the Catholic faith, he coached basketball at St, Mary’s School in 1960 and 1961 and he worked as a maintenance foreman in the construction industry, most recently for Industrial Technicians, retiring in 1996.

Buddy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, watching football, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also coached pony colt baseball as well as softball and he was also was involved in boy scouts with his sons.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents. Those who will most cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret Semar of Orange; his daughters, Kelly Poole and husband, Wayne of Orangefield, Kristy Rushing and husband, Bill of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Penny Semar of Orange; his sons, Mark and Mike Semar, both of Orange; his sister, Mary Caroline Tressler of Baytown; his grandchildren, Brandon Poole, Shelby Poole, Kyle Rushing, Allison Vanstean, Abbie Rushing, Ashley Rushing, Kourtnie Kendrick and Zane Semar. Buddy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Poole, Wayne Poole, Bill Rushing, John Duos, Greg Easton and Benny Winder. Honorary pallbearers are Zane Semar, Kyle Rushing, Rocky Breaux and Herbert Guillory.
