Toy Fundraiser set for Dec. 2
Founded in 1954, the Service League of Orange has held the Toy Coffee toy fundraiser annually since 1956. The toy fundraiser has been a success each year and the 2010 Toy Coffee will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2 in the home of Jerry and Susan Pennington, located at 612 W. Orange Ave in Orange. The fundraiser will start at 10 a.m and last until 2 p.m.
Last year, 366 guest attended the toy fundraisers and the Service League received a total of 312 toys and $4,290 was collected as admission. The money collected each year goes to fund the next year’s toy and holiday needs for Orange County families.
The Service League of Orange is a group of women that are trying to make a difference in the community and each of these women do so on a volunteer basis. This is a non-profit organization that gives 100 percent of proceeds from each fundraiser back to the community.
Susan retired from Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD as an educational technology director but is currently a teacher with the West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District (WOCCISD). Jerry is a former councilman for the City of Orange and a former Trustee with the WOCCISD but still works an attorney.
