DePauldrick Garrett, a former Mustang and Navarro College standout, signed to play football at Lamar University today at the West

Orange-Stark field house.

I’m extremely happy for him,” Head Coach Dan Hooks said. “I knew he was good and he just went to Navarro and proved how good he is. He didn’t get a lot of looks from the big schools because of his height and size but he will go to Lamar and really help their program.”

Garrett holds the record at WO-S for the most career rushing yards at 3,257, playing three seasons at the varsity level. Most recently, he played in the NJCAA National Title game for Navarro and scored the first touchdown of the game. He was named the Citizen Bank Bowl Offensive MVP after the Bulldogs captured the National Title, winning 13-12 over Butler out of Pittsburg, KS.

“DePauldrick would do whatever you asked him to do. He could block, run and catch a pass out of the backfield,” Hooks said. “I’m so glad that he will be playing in Beaumont where we can all watch him play on Saturday.”
