Brush fire no threat to north Vidor residences
Firefighters in north Vidor fought a large brush fire today
southwest of the FM 105 and Lakeview Cutoff intersection. The Texas
Forestry Service using two bulldozers as well as firefighters from the
Little Cypress-Mauriceville Fire Department assisted the Vidor VFD in
battling the fire according to a Vidor VFD dispatcher.
The fire burned in an area of west of FM 105 near Nagel and Hulett
Streets. No structures were threatened at the time of the fire.
The fire was reported by a resident in the area who noticed smoke
filling her yard and the woods near her home, the dispatcher said. Firefighters conducted a brief search for the source of the smoke and found the fast moving fire being hurried along by 18 m.p.h. winds.
