Stephenson announces retirement plans
Jane Stephenson, West Orange – Cove CISD Executive Director of Educational Services, has announced her retirement effective Jan. 31, 2011.
Stephenson, who has held director responsibilities for curriculum and instruction since January 2005, submitted her retirement this morning.
“My tenure as a teacher, Assistant Principal and as an Executive Director in the District has been more rewarding than words can describe. The opportunity to serve the children and families of West Orange – Cove has given me a lifetime of memories and friendships. I sincerely appreciate the opportunities afforded me by various Superintendents and the Board of Trustees throughout many years,” Stephenson said.
Retirement will allow Stephenson the opportunity to spend more time with family and to pursue other interests.
She has been an educator for 32 years. Her service with WOCCISD began in 1990, and includes service as Principal of Jones Alternative Education Center, as well as a math teacher and administrator at WO-S High School.
WOCCISD Superintendent James Colbert said, “Although I have not spent a great deal of time working with Ms. Stephenson, I have certainly been impressed by her passion for and dedication to the field of education.”
Colbert said the District will begin a review of the Central Office structure, as well as the District, to determine the appropriate action to fill the position.
