Derrick Coffman, 25, passed away at 6:36 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at his residence after a short and courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born on May 9, 1985, in San Diego, Calif., the son of Richard D. and Lisa A. (Watters) Coffman. He was formerly employed at the Belleville Humane Society as a technician. He was of the Lutheran faith. He loved music, his computer, and unusual books and movies with a rare sense of humor.
Survivors include his father, Richard D. Coffman of Tucson, Ariz.; his mother, Lisa Trumble of East Alton; one sister, Lacy Trumble and stepfather, Forrest E. Trumble of Orange; his paternal grandparents, Willis D. and Barbara J. Coffman of Bethalto; step-grandparents, David L. and Wanda M. Trumble of Orange, Texas; left to cherish his memory: several aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.
He was preceded by his maternal grandparents, James Ivan Watters and Earlene Burch.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River, Illinois where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, with Pastor Martin Schultz officiating.

A Memorial Service will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10 at Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange.
