Maple Walnut Cake

Way back when the insurance salesman would call on you for your payment, they also brought you a company cook book. They may still do that and I just haven’t seen them. We pay our insurance through the local bank. It’s easy with no hassle.

Anyway, I came across one of these recipe books the other day and found some really good recipes. Hope you enjoy.

1 and 1/2 cup of sugar

1/2 cup of shortening

1/2 teaspoon of mapleine

2 eggs

1 cup of milk

2 cups of sifted flour

2 teaspoons of baking powder

1/2 teaspoons of salt

1/2 cup of walnuts

Mix sugar, shortening, mapaline and eggs. Add milk and dry ingredients. Mix well. Add 1/2 cup of walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes in two 8-inch layer pans.

Icing

4 tablespoons of butter

1/2 teaspoon of mapleine

pinch of salt

1 egg

2 cups of powdered sugar

Mix well and ice layers on top.

There’s not much directions for the icing, however, I didn’t see that until I was through typing. I know that you know to mix icing and apply. Sounds Gooder’n syrup. Von.
